Snippet 6 - The Borrowed Suit did it for me! (1968)

THE BORROWED SUIT DID IT FOR ME

I thought I looked pretty cool in my "Fairway liquidation sale" brown pants and chocolate brown ski jumper as my standard Uni clobber. Apparently I didn't - "looked more like a well fed Charlie Brown".

So when on 11th July 1968 I borrowed a black suit & white shirt & striped tie to appear in a Legal studies Moot Court, I was seen in a different light by the long-haired girl that I had been pursuing at "social distances" in the Uni Libraries.

By that evening, I had discarded the ski jumper for a borrowed pale blue knit, and we were holding hands, not keeping a social distance at all, and committing to each other between drinks at the Folk Club.

And that's how it became serious - just 52 years ago today!

I wonder what happened to that ski jumper!
