Snippet 5 - On his own in the House with a Paint Brush - Ray Maloney (1913-2001)

SNIPPET OF FAMILY HISTORY  -  No. 5

"We are born with a History, and we live to tell another Story." (Warren Maloney)

ON HIS OWN IN THE HOUSE WITH A PAINT BRUSH
(A memory snippet of Ray Maloney published on Facebook on 30th June 2020)

Mum often said she would love the kitchen painted.

Dad thought he would surprise her, so he arranged for her to have a full day away - and he started, paint brush and paint roller in hand, and a creative urge abounding.

Mum returned at 6pm to find the finishing touches being done. Her centre of the Universe, her kitchen, was now deep lime green on walls and ceiling with an "artistic" 6 inch black border, almost straight, around the top of the walls.

Dad was very pleased. Mum was crying.

He was not let near a paint brush again!

Dad (Ray Maloney) would have been 107 today. Not a handyman type of Father, but a pretty good Bloke with a big desire to please.
