"We are born with a History, and we live to tell another Story." (Warren Maloney)

THE TOTE LADY

(A memory snippet of Doris "Dot" Maloney published on Facebook on 11th June 2020)

Mum always loved a flutter. So, when she retired from the Milk Bar, she worked on Saturdays at the Races & Trots - selling betting slips at the Tote.

She loved it. She earned her betting money and could have a flutter on every race - mainly place bets although she did pick up the discards when the punters made a mistake in their bets.
She reckoned she was ahead "most months".

Mum was born 109 years ago today.

She was "more than a character". She took the gamble!
