Speech 5 - Presentation of Centenary Medals (2003)

PRESENTATION OF CENTENARY MEDALS

(Speech written and delivered by Warren Maloney, as Mayor, on Friday, 2nd May 2003 to the families and recipients in Hepburn Shire of Centenary Medals at the Daylesford Town Hall)

a community is judged by the quality of its people.

A good community is judged by the willingness of its people to care, to help, to advocate and to participate.

A very good community is judged by its eagernerness to facilitate the work of its people, to listen to their concerns and to recognise & provide the resources needed to continue their work.

As a representative of a very good community, I want to participate today in recognising quality people, people who care, people who help, people who advocate and people who participate.

I want to say on behalf of your partners, your families, your NEIGHBOURS, and friends, and on behalf of so many people that you have helped – thank you.

We hope that this unique centenary medal is one way of the community saying thank you
