Eulogy 12 - Anniversary of Ray Maloney's Death

SIMPLER DAYS

(Written for Facebook on the 16th Anniversary – 23rd July 2017 - of the death
of Raymond Warren Maloney) [1]

In the rummaging through the boxes, I came across the 1981 Carlton Football Club Membership card we bought my Dad - a Pensioner card.

I thought of his 88 years love of the Club, his friendships with "Chooka" and "Soapy", his rug-covered seats at the top of the Social Club, his belief in “Big Nick” and his grumpiness with umpires.

Those days with him from the muddy slope near the scoreboard to the final days at the Social Club were indeed Simpler and Content.

The World moved on, but for him the sun always shone at Princes Park.

[1] Raymond Warren Maloney (1913-2001) was the Husband of Doris Sylvia, Bradley, and the Father of Denise Maloney (m. Anderson) and Warren Maloney.
